As well as the day to day fault diagnosis and repairs, we have extensive experience and enthusiasm for all things competitive off road, having participated in many “comp” safaris, trials and hill rallies, we have first hand experience of the demands that will be made and conditions that will be encountered by any serious 'off road' competitive vehicle

Land Rover 110

In 2003 we helped the GoRaid team of Ben Gott, Quin Evans And Robin Clarkson prepare their Defender 110 Tdi for the 2004 Dakar Rally. This vehicle was to offer “fast support” carrying spares and equipment to the other team members. Some of the specification and criteria required were:

  • Ability to wade safely up to door handle height including all vulnerable electrical equipment factory fitted under the drivers seat being re-located to the dash area including relays and fuse boxes. A snorkel including prefilter for sandy conditions, extended axle, gearbox and engine breathers were also installed
    .

  • State of the Art GPS navigation equipment and rally computers as well as competition emergency power cut off had to be installed to F.I.A. specification.

  • Heavy duty waterproof dual split charge system installed allowing the vehicle to start off of either battery therefore allowing for unexpected flat battery incidents as well as powering a high power 240V converter capable of running angle grinders, drills etc. The auxiliary battery was powering a complete auxiliary power supply circuit offering interior lighting, power points for Satellite telephones, Computers etc. Water pump for shower, High power Kyoto driving lamps, exterior work lamps and ARB locking differentials.

This vehicle completed the entire rally requiring only normal servicing and some repairs to the over-worked suspension.

In 2005, the GoRaid team moved up to a MAN  LE 10.220 competition prepared T5 Assistance Truck. Driven by Keith Banyard, Ben Gott, Quin Evans and Peter King, This was to offer support to the Bowler Wildcat team along with the GoRaid T4 MAN competition entry driven by Terry Banyard, Chris Brennan and Darren Gale.

We were pleased to be able to assist with the preparation of the T5 truck in the installation of some of the Auxiliary equipment and provide a performance upgrade to the engine management system, providing them with much needed extra horsepower.

MAN T5 Support Truck

Both trucks completed the entire event, the assistance vehicle again suffering with suspension troubles due to the excessive weight being carried across such arduous terrain.
